Welcome to the frequently asked questions and answers portion of our website. We at Car Repair Services are extremely pleased to answer any and all questions from our customers. Below are some of the most common questions that we run into at our shop. However, if you have a question that you don't see, please feel free to email me at bill@carrepairservices.com and we will respond promptly. Inspection and Emissions Q. How often do I need to inspect my vehicle? A. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires Pennsylvania registered vehicles to have two inspections. PA Safety Inspection and PA Emissions Inspection. Both of these inspections are to be performed annually. Generally, they coincide with the expiration of your vehicle registration. For more information on vehicle registration, please refer to the PA Department of Motor Vehicles website.
Q. What information do I need to bring with my vehicle to get an inspection? A. A current, valid insurance card and PA vehicle registration card. This also includes the temporary registration that is notorized.
Q. What if my vehicle does not pass an inspection? A. Since Pennsylvania requires two inspections, we have to answer this in two parts: First, Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection requires that the vehicle pass many safety regulations. If your vehicle fails to pass any of the requirements, you will have thirty days to correct them with no addition cost for the inspection. Second, Pennsylvania State Emissions requires that all vehicles from 1974 to current year pass an Emission test. If your vehicle fails to pass, you have thirty days to complete the required repairs and receive a no charge for the retest.
